Oral Appliance Therapy

Oral appliances are used to treat snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Similar to a retainer or a sports mouth guard, the appliance is worn in the mouth when a person sleeps. Oral appliances are used to eliminate snoring and improve sleep apnea by modifying the anatamy and changing the dynamics of the mandible, intraoral cavity, and upper airway sufficiently to improve the passage of air while the patient is asleep.

There are many different kinds of oral appliances and a patient should work closely with a certified dental sleep medicine professional to select the best oral appliance and fit it properly. Dr. Smith has been working with OSA sufferers since 1993 and has helped 1000's of patients find a better night's sleep through Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT).
